One East Tennessee Afternoon in May

WHERE DO YOU GO TO GET AWAY?
I recently went to the French Broad River to visit with family and friends who were camping. No phones or cell service, so I had to go without warning them.

There were signs of life (smoke signals)...

but no people. Everything in its place (not) except the kitchen sink..and I found that...here:

I wonder what could have happened to them?

Here's the rope, oh no!

So I guess I'll just fish. The hook is already baited -you thought that's the one I caught, didn't you?

Here are the ones I should tell you I caught (too bad you can't see them, but there really are two pretty big catfish in there). I could say they just jumped right off the pole into that trap, poor little suckers. But, seriously, the river rats carried my people off but didn't take their food?

But HERE is the real catch of the day (NO, silly, not ME, the fish)!

So I'll just sit back...relax...and watch this water roll by like the days of our lives. Smooth and calm, with a few rocks along the way to slow you down; but once you get around those rocks, it's smooth sailing again - for a time.

Y'all have a great day - and find that place to get away, even if just for a short time.

It is really a shame that folks don't take the time to relax and do NOTHING! Sounds like you had a great time. I hope you found the family. They probably appeared about the time the fish started biting. Whenever there is food in my house, the relatives start to appear. BTW...you weren't such a bad catch yourself. :)

Oh, I picked up that book the other day at a thrift store, but I haven't read it yet. Is it good? Looks like you had a fine day!

What a cool place to relax! Sometimes I think we have to make the time for it, sad as that is.
