A Book Worth Reviewing

by Ron Hall and Denver Moore

If you enjoy reading blogs or sneaking around and reading your sister's diary, you might enjoy reading this true story of a couple of very different men whose lives were brought together by some very interesting circumstances. Be prepared - bring Kleenex, because this story will have you crying tears of sadness, and the next page will have you laughing yourself to tears and well, it's just a good story. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say it begins with a young black man who is living in the deep south on a farm (as a result of his family's history of slavery) and has no idea there is another world out there. His desperation leads him to hop a train and spend years on the streets. His life was changed forever because of a (for lack of a better word) rich lady who decided that she and her husband needed to volunteer at the local food ministry where homeless people were fed, somewhere in a large Texas town. The lady's husband had to "go along to get along," as the old saying goes. What happens next is a great story, although it has some very sad moments (facing death and dying), they are countered by a story of love for those who may be considered unlovable, and hope for those without a drop of hope. And on that note,  I hope I've made you curious.

Ron Hall will be speaking in Morristown Saturday, April 30th, at Walters State Community College, and proceeds will go to feed the homeless. Go here for details.
